Miller Park and Brewery tour

Farm Tour

Come and explore America’s Dairyland firsthand! We will be visiting four differently-styled dairy operations just north of Madison. This tour is open and welcome to individuals with all ranges of dairy experience levels. Producers and their veterinarians will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Students will be divided into smaller groups and they will be able to take a walking tour of each of the following four dairies. This is an all-day trip and lunch is included.

Roxy-Dane Holsteins (Dane, WI)
Roxy-Dane Holsteins is currently owned and operated by the John and Kathy Endres Family. This is a small family farm that milks approximately 70 cows in a tie-stall/pipeline system 2x/day. This farm takes great pride in breeding Registered Holsteins and they have many nice cows to see on the farm.
Haag Dairy, LLC (Dane, WI)
Haag Dairy was originally bought and owned by John & Julie Haag. Their son, Josh, bought into farm in 2005 and at that time, the herd was expanded from 80 milking cows to 125. Due to the expansion, new freestall barn was built in 2005, followed by new a new heifer facility in 2009.The Haags milk in a double-6 Germania herringbone parlor 2x/day; and they prefer to keep this farm strictly family run and do not have any outside employees.
Mystic Valley Dairy, LLC (Sauk City, WI)
Mystic Valley Dairy has been run by the Breunig family since 1961. They currently milk about 420 cows 3x/day in a double-10 Bou-matic parallel parlor. In addition to the Breunig family, the farm employs eight other employees to assist with milking, crops, and calves. Breeding Registered Holsteins is an important focus on this dairy and they are the proud owners & breeders of Jenny-Lou Patron Toyane, the dam of 7H7359 Lou, 1H7235 Toystory and granddam of 14H5434 Trump.
Ziegler Dairy Farms (Middleton, WI)
Ziegler Dairy Farms has been in operation since 1862. Currently, it is owned by Leo & Carol Ziegler and their son & daughter-in-law Greg & Cheryl. Greg and Cheryl’s five sons also work on the farm and are the 5th generation to do so. Over the last 148 years the farm underwent many expansions until it became the size it reached now, milking approximately 750 cows. The Ziegler farm built a 48 stall Westfalia rotary parlor in 2000 and currently milks 3x/day. They also have 9 additional employees to help keep the farm running smoothly.
